Could anyone please tell me what this plug is for? It is attached to the same group of wires that feed the headlights. It is just hanging there with nothing connected to it. I am wondering if this is for some option that the tractor can be ordered with. I would like to explore the possibility of adding an additional light by using this wiring.

I saw another thread where they talked about this plug but everyone was just guessing and no one seemed to actually know what it is for.

Thanks!

Use a test light to see when it has power. Looks like there is a power and ground to it. Use a test light and turn the key on and check for power. If no then start flipping switches and see what it is hooked to. I just picked up a new BX 2350 Friday and I will look to see if I have the same plug

Not sure if it is the same but on the BX23 service manual electrical diagram a 2 pin plug with a black and a white wire is labeled as solenoid for D905 engine. Maybe the wiring harness comes with plugs for different types of engines because the BX tractors have come with the 902 and 905 engines and they both have different solenoid designs. Check the connector and see if it has voltage while key is on or for just a few seconds after you shut the key off. Hope this helps some.

That may be it David. It is a black and white wire. I'll get out my meter tonight and see what gives.

I checked mine this am and it is indeed pluged into the shut-off solenoid. About 5 seconds after the engine stops I can hear the solenoid reset with a click.

I checked and this plug does have voltage right after you shut off the motor. It stays that way for about 2 or 3 seconds. I hear something engage or disengage (solenoid??) at about the same time the voltage goes away. Not sure why this plug is there if it is not being used. Thanks for everyone's input.

The plug is there because the same wiring harness gets used for more than one model of tractor/engine combination. It saves money over having multiple wiring harnesses in production.

So, is it a exact duplicate except for connector style?
(Same 2 wires that land on existing solenoid, just duplicated?)
Do they go to different locations, per engine?
(Lower left vs upper right, for instance?)
