Good Morning!

Please could a 20 series boffin advise? There is a small screw adjuster and lock nut under the left side of the rear diff housing, just forward of the lower link shaft (15 and 17 in the attached diagram).

Any idea what it does and how to correctly adjust it?

I suspect it has something to do with the handbrake - this has a lever style parking brake and band (adjusted through the pipe plug next to the top link)

Any info most appreciated!

Back in the mid 60's when I first went to work for a JD dealer in the parts dept my BOSS taught me to always read part descriptions and footnotes. Read parts footnote "B" I would think screw would be adjusted into trans case just enough that the brake band wouldn't drag when disengaged.

Yes! So it bears up on the actual band, and prevents it from flopping onto the drum when the brake is released? - makes sense
