Hello , i was wondering if there is a solution why my tractor starts very quick. When i put forward the reverse it doesnt start smoothy but it starts accidentally. is there a problem to the modulator valve or anything else???
My tractor John Derre 6910 doesnt start smoothy.

my john deere 18 hp tractor suddenly will not start. The battery is charged. i have cleaned the terminals. The tractor was working just prior to shutting it down, 1/2 hour later it would not start and now 12 hours later it still will not.

Which JD do you have? My 4010 that I had for 9 years didn't have a glow plug light, and the manual didn't catch that. They later put an addition to the manual that described what to do.
On it, one had to pull the PTO button up or put the range selector in L or H before turning the ignition switch to start. Then you held the switch in that position for a count (1 or 2 if warm and up to about 4 if very cold), THEN you pushed the PTO button in or pulled the range selector to N to allow the engine to start.
The 4010 ALWAYS started with about 1/2 to 1 rotation of the crankshaft, just like our old 240D used to do, even up to when we sold it at 26 years of age.
This was a screwup by JD. They also screwed up on the 4010 by somehow changing the wiring such that the underseat switch to allow the PTO to run with the seat up didn't work. I had to tie the seat down with a bungi cord to run my chipper/shredder.
