Sounds like it wants a 5 min break every 1.5 hours. Seems reasonable. LOL

This reminds me of a phone call we got one time when I worked at an auto parts store. The caller said "I was driving down the road and the car just stopped. What's wrong with it?" When no more info was offered, I asked if it had gas in in it. The caller got mad.

I had a similar fault to yours last year, eventually the run-stop intervals got shorter. Couldn't figure it out (despite the helpful advice from TBN) because the engine was obviously getting fuel because it would fire back up and run fine.

I had biological growth (commonly known as algae, which it isn't but everyone knows it as that) at the bottom of my fuel tank. I put an inspection camera into the tank to confirm = looked like fairy-floss mixed with phlegm. I treated with a "biocide" additive, then drained the tank and wiped out as much of the growth (long mechanical 'grabber' with CHUX (J-Cloth)). The dead crap came out like black spider silk.

I used an Aussie product called "Fuel Doctors" (don't know if there's an equivalent N.A. product) after that. Problem is solved for me and I have my tractor back to full, problem free, operation.

Times 2 on the algae or a plugged fuel filter or water in the fuel. I had a TC21D I was looking to buy with the same symptoms. It turns out the fuel tank was full of lady bugs. How did they get in there? My guess is that the previous owner had a 5 gallon can that didn't have a cover on the spout. They drained the tank, and problem solved. I bought the tractor.

The very second it stops running, look at your fuel filter bowl....or pull the line off coming from the tank and see if you have a dribble of fuel, or full flow If it's only partially full, (or low flow from the tank if you pulled the line) you have a tank obstruction blocking most of the fuel, but allowing enough to run out to refill the bowl, and allow the tractor to start again in a few minutes.

The obstruction can be algae growth, or a bug floating around over the tank outlet, or something like that. Either remove and flush the tank, or use an inspection camera to look down in it for the obstruction.

I'm with the others - it's a fuel issue. I've seen fuel filters disintegrate after many years of not being changed.

Often times, crud or water in your fuel filter will cause these symptoms. It lets some fuel by, but eventually clogs enough to stall the engine. Once it has been off for a while, more fuel seeps through and/or things settle in the filter bowl, allowing fuel to pass again.

Draining the sediment bowl and possibly changing the filter helps, but you should also figure out where the contamination is coming from and eliminate it at the source.

Agree with above. Quickest and easiest test is the tank non venting tests. Had that happen recently on a riding mower with a plastic tank. Sucked the tank into a wad before I realized what was happening.
