Picked up a good deal on a Sig226 tactical pistol. Yeah, I know, the "tactical" really doesn't mean much, but it does have the SRT action I was looking for, along with the thinner trigger AND the tru glow front site. Before I buy the gun, I call the factory to ensure some of the 226 grips I have laying around will fit the gun as I personally think the stock grips look fugly with the bigger magwell.
So, buy the gun, go home, shoot it, I like it. I go upstairs to find some replacement grips, go to put them on the gun, and they don't want to fit.
Now, sometimes I'll use a little force when necessary, but when dealing with putting guns together, I always like to double check. Sure enough, check the grips and there seems no way in heck the grips will actually fit and before I use brute force, I want to double check myself.
So...I call Sig back to verify that an old set of standard 226 grips will fit this P226 "tactical" pistol, and again, they tell me "no if's and or butt's, it will".
So...Ok, if I've got to use some muscle putting it together I will. Get the grips back out, put them on the gun, and dang, there is no way in h e double tooth picks these grips are going to work. I go to take the grips off and get ready to rheem the factory out and as I take the grips off, I look down and on the grips it reads "P220".
Darn it! I grabbed the wrong model grips without even looking.
Just really glad I didn't call the factory a second time to remove all doubt that I was an idiot LOL
