My Second Hydraulic Fluid Question

I just got a 1969 John Deere 140 garden tractor and the manual says to put Automatic Transmission Fluid "type A" in.

What is "Type A" ATF?

What is today's equivalent?

I tried CarQuest. They didn't have it.

There's a Napa across the street from the CarQuest. I'll have to try there.
