Hey, my new X744 arrived !!! What an awsome machine ! Well I had to see who was right about the rear PTO option because I couldn't get a straight answer from Deere or the several Deere dealers I called. I knew i could always jump the seat safety.....plenty of past discussion about that.... so I get the unit and after sleeping with it all night..... OK, seriously the rear PTO will work, without an operator on the seat as long as it is turned on without an operator on the seat. If you get on the seat after it is on it will shut off. Also, if you are siiting on the seat when you turn it on, it will shut off if you get off the seat. I am very pleased. But I think that the dealers should know their machines a little better, and Deere Tech support should too....they are the ones the dealers supposedly spoke with.....my doubts. Anyway, if anyone hasn't tried the all wheel steer, it is worth a try. even with the Johnny Bucket senior scraping ice with the front wheels a foot off the ground, I could still steer the stuff off of the driveway.
