I just left my NH dealer where I received some bad news. I found a small leak off the bell housing. In order to fix it, they will have to split <font color=blue>"baby blue" <font color=black>in two./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif They think it is either a seal or "o" ring. It is not leaking much, but want to get it done while under warranty.
It is under warranty (125 hours, 1.5 yrs old) & he will straighten a protection plate under the SuperSteer that <font color=red>I <font color=black>bent & replace a flasher light that <font color=red>I <font color=black>banged & all under the warranty./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
I am going to have them service it & install the rear hyd valve & bucket hook that I was going to do next week anyway. They are going to do it for a decent price since they already have it in the shop.

Sorry to hear about your baby going under the wrench! Hopefullt they won'r have any left over parts :)

Is that a front loader bucket hook (s)? Just curious since I need to do the same thing to mine. Anyone have a picture of a bucket hook after installation?

Here is a photo of the 5/16" bucket hooks I welded to my bucket. Hope this helps.

The hooks on the bucket on my TC33D fel look very much like the ones in Von's attachment, except that I had the dealer weld three of them on the bucket. The center one works well for a load that needs only one point of support. They work great.

Thanks for the pictures and tips. Its funny that the buckets don't come with the hooks as a standard feature. Seems like a cheap add-on, and if it came from the factory, would be machined and designed into the bucket.

It's a liability issue, kamarch. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

My FEL manual, and I assume most others, state specifically that you should not use chains, ropes or cables in conjunction with your loader. Heavy loads swinging from your bucket makes for very unstable situations which could (and have) cause tipovers. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Now then, liability aside, we all know how handy it is to do just that, so we all stick hooks on the bucket somehow. I haven't tipped my tractor over yet by using them, but darned if I didn't come close once or twice. /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Once past the learning curve, assuming we survive, chain hooks are a very useful add-on. Of course, I would never recommend it myself. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Where was the leak coming from exactly? My TC29D leaks oil from a hole in the bottom of the trans. There's a cotter pin in the hole (I was told it's there because it will keep the hole from getting plugged up with dirt as it jiggles around ). It's always had this leak and the dealer told me it was because the seals are not broken in yet. The tractor has 170 hours on it now and it still has the leak. It's a small leak, just a spot of oil about 2" dia. It usually shows up after the tractor has been running and then parked and sits all night. How much oil is leaking on yours? Is it hydraulic oil or engine oil?

The "drain?" hole in the bottom of the transmission is exactly where my leak is. It is hydraulic fluid. It only started recently - after more than 100 hours, so it is something that needs fixed.
Since yours has 170 hours on it, I would check with the dealer again... I really don't know, but I would think that if a seal was going to bond or seat, it would have by now...
The hook that I am having mounted is just like those pictured, but I will probably have just 1 in the middle.

I still have 5 months left on the 2 year warranty, so I'll have them check it again. Are you being charged for them to come and get it and bring it back to you for warranty work?

If you don't want to weld and you have a New Holland bucket like my HD bucket, you can go to Tractor Supply or any good farm supply and get the pieces to install a "non-welded" set of hooks like these.
