My Palm Tree Exploded

Technically it's a Washingtonia Filifera and is the only palm native to the Western United States, and the country's largest native palm. This is what they are supposed to look like.

There is also a Washingtonia Robusta, but the trunk is about twice the size of the one pictured.

Quite a wind........I remember seeing a similar palm catch fire and burn in Southern Calif. years ago. Not sure how it caught on fire but remember the fire dept. protecting the two houses close by. Glad that wind didn't cause you more harm.

FWIW...I've seen Washingtonia's that are close to 100' tall withstanding 100+MPH hurricane winds on multiple occasions...I've also seen cement/terra cotta roofing tiles embedded in the windward side of the trunks of said trees from said winds...
