Does anyone have any trouble shifting their HST into medium range. It's been like that since I got it last year, got a 160 hrs on it and it is starting to get to me. Sometimes (rarely) will slip in but 90% of the time I'm rolling the gear shift back and forth trying to jam it in place only happens when I push one of the HST pedals to get in most time grinding to get there dealer indicates that's normal for them, I love my Kioti but this is ticking me off. Anyone have similar or same problem ? Thanks to anyone who can offer input.

Take your foot off of the brake, DO NOT jam it into gear use gentle pressure only.. The object is to get the tractor to move slightly. VERY slightly so that the gears will line up. If you have to blip a pedal, let the pedal go back to neutral then do so and start over with gentle pressure to get it into MED or back into LO gear. Then try again to go to MED. This sounds like more trouble than it is. This usually takes about a second or two to execute. Most times it will slide right in, but once in a while you have trouble lining them up. As the tractor gets more hours on it, it will get slicker. But there are no synchronizers, the 3 speed transmission is just a pure old time crash box.

Hey Kevin, my NX4510HST cab has a few less hours on it than yours, and it does exactly what yours does. Sometimes it slips right in, sometimes not. Also happens from time to time going into low range, but rarely going into high. Just as James describes, I nurse it in and don't give it a second thought. I can usually get it to mesh right away, within just a few seconds. No synchronizer on the HST range selection in these tractors.

Glad you're enjoying your NX. I love mine as well!

My 6010 behaves same way. I just hit the forward pedal a little, let it rev back down (linked pedal is enabled) and try again; usually after a few attempts it will slip in. Or if on a slight incline I let the tractor roll a little and try again, this sometimes helps.

I have the same operation as yourself. I attribute the issue to a non-syncronized range gear and really didn't think much of it.

I'm in the middle of moving a house right now, and so it will be three more weeks before I'm back to using my tractor, but at the request of my Service Manager I now have a dash camera aimed at my shift lever as in addition to frequent hard shifting that requires the fiddling k0ua talks about the shift into range, I've also had a problem of popping out of gear since new as we hope to video it when it happens the next time.

I have an NX4510 HST and was also irritated by the difficulty of getting the shifter into gear (in any range). I had to do as you and depress one of the HST pedals slightly while keeping the brake pedal pressed to get the shifter to engage. I thought this was a potentially severe mechanical fault until I read in the owners manual (an otherwise useless document) that this was the exact procedure to use (page 4-36 where it discusses the "Range Gear Shift Lever [HST]" in my manual - some translation required).

Same thing happens on my CK. Was almost all the time new, now maybe 50%. I just mess with things a little as others have said and it usually goes right in after a few tries. A reason I rarely take it out of MED, because that's the best working gear, and the hard shift. I shift into MED on startup, and even if I shut her down, I don't take it back out usually until I'm totally done. It's a minor issue with all non-synchronized HST trannies and I just deal with it.

Also, NEVER jam the lever into gear, that's a great a way to bend the shifting forks, requiring some major tranny work.

Hey thanks Guys. I appreciate the info and it helps to understand as opposed to being frustrated. Certainly something Kioti can improve upon, I think they have a great tractor but this is a sticking point (pun intended) for me. Oh and for the past eleven years I have been a member here and owning two Kiotis I have not only bragged about my Kioti but also the help I get when I need it on 'Tractorbynet.com'. Have a great Tractor Day.
Cheers
Kevin
