My New Winch

Fianally decided to get the Tajfun winch. It was the dealer as much as anything. I hope it lasts as long as the Farmi's seem to. Had to shorten the pto shaft a bit (per the manual) to make it work. The manual was a little light on info on hooking up to the tractor. I have the top link in the bottom posistion on both tractor and winch, is this best? I do not want to rip out the back of the case like the other guy did. Anyway had a geat afternoon skidding out the trees that had been out of reach for so long. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Taking it it slow and easy while I learn. The winch is smooth and powerful even at relativly low tractor rpm.

Congrats on your new purchase.

Just a small tip: when you pull bigger log, support your winch to tree, that tree take pulling force and not a tractor.
And, if you have bottom pulley, lead cable through it, as in this case force will be applied more to lower links than to top link.

I live in the small Town of Mariaville, It is between Ellsworth and Bangor Maine.
Yes it is the EGV 30A, the tractor is a Kubota L2250.
The winch comes all set up with the lower pully ready to go. No snatch block yet, somebody at my house thinks I've spent enough this week! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Looks like a real nice setup. I am kind of interested in the 50A model but can't seem to find a dealer in the east. Where did you buy your winch?

Also I noticed that you have chains on the front tires. I have been told that is not a good idea. I have thought about putting them on my tractor but I believe it is not reccomended. I have a JD 5210 MFWD. I have 16.9 x 28 loaded rear tires with double ring chains and 9.5 x 24 on the front. Do you just run the front chains in the snow?

I got the winch from Liberty Equipment in Hermon Maine. He mentioned another dealer south of here NH or MA. The phone # for Liberty is 207.848.2552. I am sure he could help you.
I only run front chains in ice/snow. I am asking alot of my little tractor and I try to give it (and me!) every advantage. I am careful to keep spinning to a minemum and only engage 4wd when I need it.
