My new shop.

Awhile back (quite awhile now) I said I was going to build a shop for my buddy and last fall it went up. I wasn't going to post a pic of it (no camera for one thing) but I changed my mind and asked my buddy to take a pic of it for me. This isn't my place btw, I live in the city, it's my buddy's acreage. It's 40' by 60' with 14' walls on a grade beam so over 15' floor to ceiling. It's going to be insulated (ceiling already is, we are going to do the walls ourself and save a few bucks) and it was built with in floor heat tubes put in before they poured the 5" thick concrete floor. It's hard to tell from the pic because it appears too dark, but it's as close to "barn red" as we could get. I let him and his wife pick the colour...they have to look at it daily, I don't!

Nice, mine is 32' X 40' and I wish I had the extra space. Are you heating the floor with a wood fired boiler?

It's 2x6 wood frame and prefab rafters with 29 gauge metal cladding on roof, outside walls and ceiling. Top 6' of the interior will be the same 29 gauge siding with the bottom 8' being 3/4" plywood.

Yep! But I think that will have to wait for warmer weather. We have yet to run the permanent power to the building so any lights and heating would be jury rigged. He has bought a bunch of T-5 light fixtures so the plan is to hang them first to get some light in there...no windows, eh.

From discussions so far I believe the plan is for a propane fired boiler for the permanent installation.

I have been searching for someone to build a pole barn for me. Do you travel? It'd only be about a 30 hour drive to work each day. :laughing:

My shop is 24 x 42 ft with 12 ft walls, two 10x10 ft rollup doors, 1 regular man door, one window--pretty Spartan. Right now there are 3 tractors (MF135 diesel, Minneapolis Moline BF tractor, Farmall Cub) and a Bolens garden tractor in there for service, rebuild, restoration. You can never have too much shop floor space

Nice. I guess because of the temperature, you can see the location of the wall girts on the right side.
