twatson,
I think you said it all when you used the phrase "the warranty is worthless". Unless we're lucky enough to live nearby to either "Affordable" who I believe is in Texas, or to Ranch Hand Supply who are in God's true country, we are essentially on our own - our own warranty station. Those two have shown themselves to be remarkably worthy in their continuing efforts on behalf of their customers, and they stand ready to help you too albeit on your dime. I'd suggest a divorce between you and the charletons of Northern Tool.
This is not at all a bad thing. The frustration levels that I've seen people reach while attempting to obtain satisfaction through this or that warranty and this or that vendor are something that I believe would bring me to my deathbed at this point of my life and state of health. I feel lucky not to have bought with any idea that there would be a warranty to rely on as it frees me from any dependence on anyone other than my own self, whom I've found to be tireless in service to my own interests and completely alone in that despite the sworn promises of three wives and innumerable self described friends.
So use the resources that are right here before you. Learn your tractor and you can transform what may now appear to be your worst mistake into the successful thumb of your nose to the high dollar prices of the mainline tractors you thought it would be in deciding to go for the low price and free shipping of Northern Tool.
Know this though, and it is something repeated over and over in here, these chinese tractors are not for the person who cannot do his own tinkering, adjusting, and even repairing. They just are not.
