Philip, can you mount the loader with the subframe on and the plow off?

I don't think so. I got the plow and sub-frame this time last year and the loader this spring, so I have not needed to remount the sub-frame. The sub-frame has an 'a-frame' that sticks out to attach blade or snow blower or brush. I think this would interfere when bucket is in lowered position. I can let you know in november when I mount the sub-frame for winter snow. I will then mount FEL and see if there is interference.

Philip, you being owner/ operator of both a 6' bush hog & a 6' finish mower behind an L3940 ... I'm currently using my dad's 5' bush hog beast (see below) & want to eventually get my own 6' rotary or 6' RFM. Would like to avoid buying both, if that's reasonable.

My main question is, does a RFM on your tractor give a cut equal or near what I'm getting from my little Sears 42" riding mower? Of course, I don't know if you've ever owned any such 42" mower, but the cut is about as perfect as I can imagine.

If a RFM behind my L3940 doesn't cut way better than that of a ratory, I feel like I might as well just get a rotary.

Also, what make/ model 6' rotary & RFM do you have?

Thanks!

I use a newer JD L110 42" for weekly mowings around the house. Every other week (or every third week during hot dry season) I mow 'out' grasses with Woods RD7200 6' rear discharge finish mower. This will leave a very nice cut if I don't go too fast and if I don't let the grass get above 6 to 8 inches. If I let the grass get taller than this or go too fast, it will leave windrowing. The 6' bushog is an old blue Ford model with holes in the top and one side replaced with a stick of angle iron. Not much to look at but still works good. I only get this out if an area in the back gets above 1 foot, or if someone else needs an area mowed, so I only use it a couple times a year as a last resort. I consider this rough cutting, and definetly leaves more of a mess behind. If you cut every week, I think you would be happy with the cut of a RFM with rear discharge. Philip.

OK, thanks! My dad says that beast in my pic is a Ford, 971 I think? Can't remember now.
