Did you know that there's no way to operate a PTO attachment if you get off of the seat on this tractor? It states that in the owner's manual and was confirmed by the dealer, too. Oh, well... no PTO woodchipper for me!

That unfortunately is a feature often left off of the economy tractors...but all is not lost-there are ways around it if you want to run a chipper.

Don't give up on the chipper. There is plenty of reading on how you might be able to get around the operator presence switch if you use the search function.

i would put something heavy on the seat so the safety feature will not shut down the tractor so then you can use your chipper

When my grandpa lost power, he hooked up his 2210 to the PTO generator and noticed the same thing. He had to use all the scrap iron he had laying around to keep the pto going. About 5 months ago I was working down the road at the dairy farm and was taught that if you unplug the switch and put a copper wire in it you can keep the PTO running. Then you just plug it back into the seat when your gone. I know this works for the 2210 but it may work for your 3038E.I know its a safety feature but as long as you plug it back in the safety feature will do its job. Besides you cant really stand with hydrostatic transmission very well.

I'd rather not mess around with by-passing a safety feature on the tractor, and I don't want to carry a 100 pound sack of potatoes everytime I need to do some chipping! It's there for a reason... to protect the liability of the manufacturer and to keep someone from getting mangled by his/her finish mower.

I guess I'll look into a self-powered chipper. I was looking at the Wallenstein BX42 but the DR Power 16.5 Pro looks nice!
