My new favorite word - Noreaster

Had about 12" this AM and snowed all day. About 16" so far total. Forcast for about 4 more hours of moderate snow till it ends, probably will have 24" when it's over.

Cleared my driveways a couple times and a couple neighbors till I finially had to go to work. Might have to take a snow day tomarow to go riding.

Here is a pic of the driveway this morning. Could not get any helpers to get an action shot of the blower. Tons of snow and 5 sheer pins.

I wish all I had gotten was snow. It snowed yesterday and then sleeted all night. Had about a 1-2 inch layer of ice on top of the 3-4 inch's of snow we got. The roads around there are a total mess. They plowed early last night and now there's 1-2 inchs of ice on all the secondary roads around me. I think I need to go buy some ice skates.

We had 3" snow, 4-5" solid ice and hardpack, and then another 4" snow on top. Nasty stuff. Took me 6 hours to plow the drive.

From balmy central Texas, 34*/56% humidity, what's it like to change shear pins in all that snow?

Well sorry to hear you guys in Pa got ice but my real sympathies go to Vernon in balmy Texas. Don't your snowmobiles overheat in that in that ugly weather ?

Seriously though, sheer pins are more annoying than trouble. They change out pretty easy. I think my 72" Puma is a tad small for my 30 HP tractor.

I will try and get more pics, maybe on my 100 HP snowdrift smasher , not the tractor.

Yep quite a storm ! Nice pic BTW. At my Ct house we got 3" of sleet, heaviest stuff I can remember pushing. My neighbor up in Vt said we got close to 3-4 ft, cant wait to get up there to go play, opps mean work in it

I plowed on the back of an Massey Harris 50 with no cab for ten years. It used to take me 2 1/2 to 3 hours to plow the four houses and the barns on the family farm. I used to come in with ice hanging off my beard. I dreaded Noreasters. Now I have an F-350 with a minute mount plow. It takes me about an hour to plow. It's like cheating. The blade is two feet wider. I have a place to set my coffe mug and a CD player. It is really hard to convince my wife that its work.

21 inches at my place. The BX will only stack it 5 feet or so high. Should have gotten the B tractor.

Thanks for your concern??? Overheating is not too much of a problem but the dust clogs the filters.

You people in central New York do not need a Nor-Easter you have lake effect!

I am slight higher then the towns around us and I ended up with about 14-16" the other day. First snow storm with any amount of the year, hard to believe.

About half way through blowing the road and I picked up a large rock and there goes the shear bolt. It was dark so I put it away for the night and went out in the morning pulled the shaft and inserted a new bold and had a heck of a time getting the shaft back onto the pto shaft, 10 degrees out!

Finally got it on and did about twenty feet of blowing and there goes the shear bolt again. Turns out the dummy (me) bought 3/16 bolts instead of 5/16's. Put in the right bolt and was off and blowing the rest of the morning.
