SATOH s-650-g
Hi guys, I just bought a 650-G and I have a question for those of you that have the answers!

What size bushog can I expect to pull comfortabily? Also disc, box blade, etc...

I'm sure I'll be back with more questions later...

Also, am I correct in assuming that this tractor takes gear oil?

I am somewhat familiar with this tractor, but never owned one. It will be very comfortable with a 4ft mower, a 5ft will work but might be a strain depending on material you are mowing. Disc etc could be 5ft, but 4ft would be safe based on the weight of the tractor.

All gear tractors that I know of use gear oil of a couple varieties, you ought to find an owners manual or service manual to be sure. I would think that the 3pt hydraulics run off the crankcase oil, so the correct weight is important.

4ft would probably not cover the tire tracks. Don't know about the oil questions but you could try the Mitsubishi/Satoh club on Yahoo. You will get answers from several posters there. Manuals and parts are available from several vendors who post frequently.

First, I think the trans takes gear oil but I don't remember the weight, but the hydraulics are seperate and use hydraulic fluid. Don't mix the 2.

A 4ft brush hog won't cover across my rear wheels. I don't know if it would if they were adjusted all the way in though. I have 5 ft hog, but I really need to add weight to the front of the s650G b/c it makes turning interesting sometimes. I don't know about a disc, but I run a 5' tiller, blade, and box blade on mine. Haven't bought a finish mower yet, but I figure that it could handle a 5'-6' mower with out much problem. Again, might need to add some weight to the front. My 5' box will stop it dead in it's tracks with the scarifers all the way down and an aggresive bite. I think that if I had filled rears that it would help.

Thanks Guys! Mine has a bucket lift on the front so that should help on the turning. I just wondered if a 5' hog might choke the tractor down. I know 4' is not much of a cut, but until I get my land under control there will be some high grass, and brush, to deal with. Thanks for the info and I welcome all opinions still to come on this subject...

The transmission takes 80-90 gear oil and the hydraulics use hydraulic oil. This is a split system, not a shared one like later model Mitsubishi's. Call 800-609-5110 or email for manuals and parts. Bill - satohparts.com

I also have a S650G and I recently bought a 5' King Kutter hog for it. We have been doing some custom field cutting with it and it runs the 5' hog well. Most of the time we can run in 2nd gear hi range but in very tough grass 1 st hi may be better. We have had some problem with the radiator getting plugged with grass seed and overheating. I would not recommend anything larger than a 5' though, it makes the tractor work!

Thanks Mapleguy. I have yet to buy a hog so your info is appreciated! Sounds like the 5' is going to be the way to go...
Bill, what are the prices on those owners manuals?

My fiancees tractor is one of the EARLIEST models I guess and I just bought her a BRAND NEW SQUEELER BUSH HOG rated for HER PTO which is 22 HorsePower, It DOESNT cover her rear wheels but MAN does it HAUL *** and builds up GREAT RPMS and cuts her grass AWESOME. I wanted to buy a 5 ft BUT her PTO rating said it WOULDNT handle a 5 footer. We are WELL pleased with the NEW BUSH HOG Squeeler
