Kioti DS3510 1949 Ford 8N
I have a new Kioti DS3510 with a FEL. I'm new to the diesel tractor world and was wondering what is the optimal RPM for brush hogging and box bladeing or other working for that matter. I Just don't want to keep it revved to high or low.
Also, I'm a small guy but stocky and it sure is hard getting on and off. Seem like I keep stepping on the brake handle all the time but other than the engine being a little noisy I really like this tractor! OH! one more question, Is it OK to leave the brush hog hooked up (in the up position) when not needing it and doing other work with the FEL?
Thanks again for all the help people have given me so far :)
Regards,
Smokey

First, Welcome to TBN. Second, Conqratulations on the 3510.
I have a 2011 DK3510SE HST with 1437 hours and its only been in the repair shop 1 time in its short life. Jan 3 of this year i was stacking firewood logs on top of my pile, one 16" diameter log 24 or so feet long came over the fork rack, rolled down the loader arms and landed in my lap. It took out the complete dash, electrical system, steering column and right fender. rendering my tractor kinda in trouble. My dealer has been SUPER putting this back together and getting it back in service. Its at my fabricators shop now getting a 4 post complete skidder cage made for it. My 3510 is used mostly for skidding and loading firewood and logs. If and when the 3pth winch is off for some reason i always have something hooked to the 3pth. Ive had tractors with 8 or 9 thousand hours on them and the 3pth has never been empty. Only thing i do is at the end of the day, i lower the hitch to the ground.
When hogging, keep the R's up and don't let it lug down, maintain a ground speed that allows you to cut and shread all your cutting, In bush hogging, your not in a race so slow usually wins the race .
Personally i think you got a nice size tractor there, I sure like mine.
BTW .. . . . .I crawled away after cutting myself out of the tractor with only severe brusing to my knees and upper legs. Life Is Good:)
1st picture is a day in the life of my Kioti
2nd picture is the morning of my accident
3rd picture is what my front yard looks like everyday
Happy Tractoring . . . . .John . . . .

Congrats on the tractor, I have the same model.
Run the slasher / rotary mower at 2500. Always lower you implements when you are not on the tractor for safety's sake. Yes the ds3510 is noisey and a little clanging sounding at the rear which is normal. I've been extremely pleased with mine and after 120 hours I'm really happy. Just make sure you keep the loader bolts nipped tight as the tend to stretch for the first 20-50 hours and the loader mounting bolts. After that just check over them as part of you inspection every couple of weeks depending how much you are using your tractor. Also make sure you keep the Greese upto them as well. Take care with the FEL as with the smaller tractors they are easy to tip do try and get used to lowering the bucket before moving off. The FEL is quite strong and will readily pick the back end up s counter balance is a must. I used a rear weigh or the rotary mower.
Great tractor though congrats Jason

Thanks for all the help and advise that you have given me. Yes I'm now going to leave the brush hog attatched but will be sure to let it completly down when the tractor is not in use. I like it on the back as it seems to ballance the weight of the FEL. Like I mentioned the only complant that I have is getting on and off the tractor especially where the parking brake pull is. Seems like I get tangled on it all the time. Heck it's even easier getting and out in my older generation (C4) corvette than on the tractor...LOL
Other than that I absolutly love this tractor!!!! Sure seems tough and strong for a compact tractor too!

Yes , agree with park brake, it's also built a bit on the light side. My complaint is that your pants leg can get caught on the yellow PTO lever, which has happened to me leading to a rather ungraceful dismount.. Make sur you load dome pics of your new toy. I see your from Texas, I'm just reading the book on Chris Kyle very impressed.

Oh yes I have made some really ungraceful dismounts too until I get used to it. The old '49 8N that I had was so easy just jump on and off.
Yes Chris Kyle was a true hero here and everywhere across the country. The trial is going on now so things in Stephenville are quite on lock down.
On the brighter side of things though I'm really going to like this Kioti I just can't figure out why they couldn't give us a little more room. Heck I'm only 5'6 and 180 and it's quite cramped. On the good side of that once your in its comfortable. Oh the other thing is that headlight tab. My knee keeps it hitting the headlights. My wife was kidding me why I kept turning the headlight on and off...lol
Again, love the tractor though and it'll just take time to get used to.
