Since it's going to rain today, instead of cutting I went out and got some pics of the work thats been done so far...

In the next shot, the portion next to the neighbors with the burned looking patches is actually where the heaviest blackberry/bramble jungle was located...

Looks like the new rig is making quick work of your jobs. Just don't do all that hard work too fast!

Nice tractor, I sure like my E series. One thing.. before you go jamming that puppy into too much heavy brush, you might consider building something like this. Bottom mounting holes are already there, you only have to drill two small holes in the top of the (wide open) factory guard. Lots cheaper than replacing that nice new grille.

That's a nice looking grill guard add-on! I'll have to take a stab at something like that. Thanks for the suggestion.

And while you're playing with expanded metal, if you like to always have a couple of lengths of chain handy when you're out tractoring, you could build one of these little chain baskets. Mounting holes (3/8"-16) are already there on your right hand loader mast, thanks to John Deere. :)

Very nice!!! I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. Mine has 215 hours on it now and the more I use it the more I like it.

New is good, nice package. Didn't look at the new ones lately. What is the gage next to the fuel cap ? If its the fuel gage why isn't it in the dash panel ?

It is non-electronic. It couples the indicator to the float/screw mechanism via magnet. I inadvertantly popped it off a couple of times when I wasn't careful opening the hood - no big deal, it just snaps right back on. The gauge float assemply is sealed so there is no leak or contamination potential.
Granted, it was probably done as a cost savings, but an additional advantage is that you don't have to switch on the ignition to check your fuel level...

Nice work done and nice tractor combo. One thing you noted was keeping your bucket low and feeling it lift in heavy brush. That's always been my warning that I am into too much heavy stuff....and from my experience....I back off the amount cut. Funny how you gain your own "rules of thumb" as you gain experience. Nice job!!

My question is how many people went with the 3032e instead of the 3038e?

Are they the same size physically? is the extra hp worth the extra money? what are the other deciding factor for going with the 3038e?

Great thread and great pics, your rig does a great job cleaning up!

Thanks Bryan!

The 3032E & 3038E are essentially the same machine except for the engine. The 3032E is a normally aspirated engine with an 88 mm bore & 90 mm stroke. The 30338E has an 84 mm bore & 90 mm stroke, but has a turbocharger & puts out about 5 more HP. For cold weather engine start assistance, the 3032E has glow plugs where the 3038E has an air warmer.

I was actually leaning toward the 3032E, but the wife asks "If you were buying a car that could be had with or without a turbo, which would you buy?" ... so I went with the 3038E (which she knew was consistant with my automotive track record...). It was about $1200 higher than the 3032E. We rationalized it as adding resale value.
