First thing I did was remove a stump that I was mowing around for years.

Did you use your BH to break roots, or did you first excavate and then saw them? I'm curious as to what I might face with pine and fir trees around my place some day. I would guess that a stump from a long-dead tree is much easier to remove.

I used the backhoe to break the roots, I didn't have to leave the operator position except to move the tractor.
