With the way the wind is howling here in CT, I don't think that I would even want to get on the tractor this morning even if it had a cab. I am starting to think about snow like Mayor La Guardia thought of it..... "G-d put it there..... let G-d take it away!!!"..... Today clinches the decission.... I am getting a cab and heater for next winter. The wind is whipping the snow around so badly that there is bare spots and snow drifts 5' high in some places. Today is the type of day that even a snowblower is going to be challenged to putting the snow to the side of the road and keeping it there. It is either a cab for next winter, or I move to AZ for the winter. Junk, here is a trick I used this morning and it really helped. My face looked like an icicle before I figured this out.

Ok, to keep the snow from blowing everywhere, including back on you, just angle the chute deflector down so it is at a 90 degree angle. This doesn't throw the snow very far but it does cut down the white spray, enough so that you can see what you are doing. It's nice to have complete deflector and rotator hydraulics. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

58 MPH substained winds. TV said it was 50 below at midnight counting the wind chill. At 5 this morning it calmed down to a snappy 44 MPH substained. I bought two pieces of 30 X 42" plexiglass. Drilled some 1/8" holes and mounted them both, front and back with mechanics wire.. Just the two pieces make a big difference

half the cab is already made. Every time I go bring the tractor back and have it finished, there is some new catastrophe that comes up at the cab builders.. He did tell me to call this Thursday coming and hope I can get it in early next week.. I'll tell you, the wind is bad enough, coming of the reservoir exacerbates and already cold day

Well it wasn't my first choice of what to do at 05:00 Hrs this morning for about the 50th time this winter /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif but I sure was glad to have the cab and heater. My old tractor had a snow blower but no cab and I wouldn't go back to those days for anything. This is much more civilized! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Our Governor will be declaring a state of emergency today for drought conditions..... We don't even have any snow in the mountains. Our high today will be 65 degrees. This might be nice right now, but this summer could really be trouble for us.

You have most every gadget known to man that will fit that BX grass-catcher, power-broom, backhoe, snowblower, loader, and so on, and so on. So why hold out for another year on the cab? Make a call and get yourself one of those high end Perry hard-side jobs and do it in style.

I know 4 of his guys have some kind of issue that all went to the hospital together,, I think he has 6 men counting himself.. Anyway,, Horribleursus, you've been to my home several times,. Believe me, form that reservoir of near 300 acre surface, the winds are unbelievable.. The other day, 58 MPH substained. Get on any tractor without cover in that situation and you'll soon become a sissy yourself.. Hey junk, you need a cab, it's a must for any tractor! Her'es what led to mine. Late september 2000, i start core areating a 7 acre site of athletic feilds for a local youth soccer association. 20 minutes into the job it starts raining,that slow,steady raw stuff. Needless to say,i finished the job, my wallet and cell phone wer'e both destroyed. The next day i ordered my cab,nothing fancy,just a soft side curtis with a small heater. That was money well spent!
