I got the splitter frame for free and a friend had the proper cylinder. I am not too thrilled that the wedge is stationary, because I can easily put the thing verticle on the loader and it would have been nice to wrestle big stuff onto the end plate, but having the wedge there is not so ideal.

Another thought is turning it upside down and do BIG stuff that way. I could make a SS plate that rotates, but that is a lot of work and another "thing" to sit around.

I bet you, I would crush a finger if I split my wood that way (Guy with tongs). Good project for a ROBOT! I have never really seen it discussed here. The pros and cons of splitting BIG wood. To me, it seems like way more work.

I was thinking that by doing everything himself there's no risk of miscommunication with another operator. I prefer smaller wood myself, but opinions may vary.

I meant just handling wood in general. If you handle hundreds of pieces, eventually you wack a finger or so. If you handle large stuff and it shifts getting your fingesr between it and some solid steel, it hurts!
