Accidents are like airplane landings, any one that you can walk away from is a good one ! ( for airplanes if they can be reused it's an excellent one !)
Hope the deer was fully insured!
Just had someone tell me that if the deer is killed Fish and Game will pay for the damage, first I've heard of that . If the deer isn't killed apparently there's no proof!

I'm sure with a spring that size you want to make sure to have proper tools and technique to do any maintenance. That's a monster.
Correct ! Sadly along the same lines when the 2 Delta aircraft mechanics were killed last week in Atlanta when the tire they were working on exploded and killed then instantly !!

Im planning to have it repaired. Just holding off till next payday before I take it in. I hit a deer on the way home from work tonight. I am hoping they can fix it and dont try to total it. View attachment 1107160
OUCH ! Glad you didn't get injured. Smart move in letting a repair shop fix the track piston. I am sure you had more than 1 glass of wine !!!

I’ve set my sights on clearing a scrubby piece of land that keeps growing back. I want to use it for livestock. This is one of those things I should have tackled when we first had the land cleared. If I had cleared the stumps the , all we would have had to do was keep it mowed a couple times a year. But I really didn’t know and I am always suffering from a condition callled “I’m just one man”

Some good excavator work (before I three the track).

Dig A Hole

Are you going to burn the stumps in the hole before you fill back up with dirt?

A lot of what you are doing is very similar to what I'm doing with my place. Fencing, shelter, clearing land, improving pasture, fixing equipment, and not getting anything done on my house.

My current strategy for my land is to keep it mowed where I've already cleared it. The more I mow it, the more the grass takes over. When I let an area go for a year, the saplings took over and they where thicker then before I cleared that area!!!

Then I work my way along the edges of my cleared areas with my backhoe, and take out the smaller trees that come out quick and easy. This opens up the bigger trees. Some I'm keeping, some will come out. Others seem to just fall over when we have a big storm!!

I put everything into a burn pile, and when it's wet out, I set it on fire. The ash and dirt that always ends up in the pile gets hauled to my low areas, and where I have erosion problems. I'll add a few sacks of concrete to create a dam inside the ditch, fill it up, compact it, and spread some seed. In a few months, its impossible to see where that ditch used to be.

My current fencing project will give me 27 acres of 2x4 horse fence. I can't explain how happy I will be to not have electric fence any more!!!!

I can fully understand your satisfaction at getting the fencing done.
No I’m not burning these just burying. I’ll pile dirt a little higher to account for settling and sinkholes. And I am gonna use the extra dirt to repair some roads and trails. Keeping the fields cut down is essential but smacking into stumps with cutting equipment is expensive. I can’t wait till the excavator is back on line. Till then, I’ll be finding some other ways to keep pushing toward that beautiful field that I have in my mind.

After two weeks of test driving every car I could imagine as a replacement, Yesterday I picked up a New Tesla model Y. After I move the goats this morning, I’m gonna drive into town and figure out how to use the supercharger while my daughter gets groceries. View attachment IMG_3586.jpg
