Dropped a new video today. Getting power pulled to the house and putting in the last hydrant.
Buckeye I put in close up details of the bucket use.

Wahoo! Congrats to you both.

Almost 5 years since you broke ground and started the thread.... how's that feel to acknowledge? :ROFLMAO: 🍻

Thanks for the detailed bucket video. I have a frost free hydrant sitting in my barn I never installed, as I want to bring water line back out from in the house with a shut off inline.

Starting the saw at the end was classic.

The deal on the Rockbridge lot is a no go for us, way too many restrictions.

I went out and ate lunch in my car so I could watch the video.

It has been quite a journey. Lots of humble pie along the way. But also quite a bit of skills and knowledge acquired. Really looking forward to the day we can call it home.

If you have a traditional tank with check valve located at the tank, the. Line back out is probably the way to go. My check valve is located right above the pump in the well.

I have a few small leaks on my pressure manifold. I will try just tightening them but it got me thinking about teflon tape vs putty.
I used blue monster pipe sealant on the yard hydrants. The CSV (cycle stop valve) specified teflon tape. I used teflon tape on everything in the manifold because it came with teflon tape. Usually I have very good luck with tape but this time I have several leaks.

Over the past 10 or 15 years I've noticed a quality deterioration of fitting threads. I normally use tape. I tape the crap out of them. So much tape that I can barely see the threads thru it. Still once in a while will have a leak. I throw away the fittings involved.

20 years ago you could skip the tape and rarely have a leak.....

I now use rectorseal #5, never had a leak.

In the house I’ve used a lot of Teflon tape and never had it leak, if it got wrapped in right direction and covered all the thread.

As a plumber explained to me...you use tape to take up any gaps in the threads, and you put liquid pipe sealant to provide lubrication. With the cheap fittings today, that is how he seals up things.

I didn't want to get my hand slapped for insinuations. But I have my theory as to why we have this problem today.
