Was wondering if battens use a finish nail that gets caulked over, or same nails used on siding.

Happy New Year everyone. Last day of hunting season here. Warm and rainy. Gonna go see my granddaughter today.

Happy New Year to everyone ! Well it looks like all of us who build outside have benefited greatly from the warm fall and start of winter !! But it will end this week here in the Smoky and Cherokee mountains. Calling for snow late tonight and temps this week below freezing at night with highs around 45 ! So today i will be draining and rolling up the outside water hoses for the season, usually i do that around Thanksgiving !

Yes the warm weather has helped. I will be doi g the same with hoses and also checking the sprayer to make sure all lines are drained. So I don’t have to do repairs in the spring.

I was glad we had a very mild winter when I built in 1997. I had my footers poured right after New Years.

I hired most of my build, but I did the electrical. The builders closed my house in December and froze their butts off. I wired it in January stripping to a T shirt most afternoons. Go figure.

Today we got the siding on the front wall over the master bedroom so that front wall is now done. No battens yet. We were hoping to work on the courtyard walls tomorrow. Winter storm of wintry mix or something is on the way. We will see what tomorrow brings.
