Sounds like you're clearing more vegetation than the goats
Thats because as a farmer  he has to take care of his herd! More animals, more responsibility, but more enjoyment.

I wonder if you could put an apple tag locator or something like that on a leash, to alert you in case they get out into your orchard?

Airtag uses bluetooth. Most of the locators use a gos reader that tells them their position but transmit on bluetooth or 3G. That is basically useless out here. I have a Garmin collar and hand unit for my dog that uses radio signal to tell me his position. But those batteries dont last more than about 18 hours.

It has been a whirlwind couple weeks. My day job has been intense and trying to get everything ready for the goats to come home took WAYYY more time and resources than I anticipated but we are starting to settle in. They got out yesterday morning. There was a small gap in the gate and they squeezed right thru I put in another post and plan to weave more fence into connect that post. I’m sure there will be many more mornings like that. I had one bite of my eggs and Jefanna was saying “how did the goats get on this side of the fence. “. Fortunately she grabbed the grain pail and they followed her right back in. Here is the start of the goat barn.

So, it's too late to start a pool about how long before the goats break out of the fence.

Should we start a new one?

How long before the goats get into the orchard?
How long before they jump on the side of a car?
how long before you question the wisdom of getting goats?

I set up four sections of mesh fence. Total of 600 feet. To enlarge the area they can feed. And to get yhem to stsrt putting pressure on the weeds. We Open the gate in the morning when Jefanna lets them out of the barn. They are slowly catching on. At first one of them would touch the fence and they would all run back to the barn and stay inside for a while. This morning they just wouldn’t leave the area right in front of the barn for a couple hours. I watched them repeat that hot fence run back to the barn thing about a dozen times. My goats are cute but they ain’t too bright.

Your comfort on a step ladder is impressive (top step?)
Have you thought about adding an inside wall about half way up to prevent the goats from pushing out the siding?
