Everyone else posting their deer pictures has me feeling left out. :D

I took this last Sunday over in Idaho. Nice little 5x4 buck. Our camp went 4 for 4, with all the bucks having greater than a 4x4 rack. Ran across this one trailing about 5 min behind a doe, in the middle of a clearcut, at 1:00pm. Got to love hunting in the rut. 225 yards and the 150 grain Nosler Partition did it's job well. Took both shoulders and the front of the heart and he still managed to make it 300 yards to the bottom of the nastiest, deadfall infested canyon in the area. The drag was nearly about a 30% grade for 500 yards to the road and then 1/4 mile down a snow covered road to the truck.

Only picture I have right now is one took upon my return home, my hunting digital camera went kaput last season, so my partner has the pre field dress photos on his. I'll post them when he gets around to sending them.

nice buck, so you traveled from washington to idaho? i just walked a couple thousand feet out the back door. but i sure miss hunt camp, and would like to see my boy experience it, maybe we'll sell, move closer to fam and make a trip out of deer hunting again. Are you at a cabin, or tent? public land?

I head over to Eastern WA for a mule deer hunt yearly, if I get skunked there I resort to the backyard black tail deer we have here on the property. This was the first trip to Idaho for white tail but, I'll go back next year for sure. Gorgeous country and lots and lots of good bucks.

We set up camp on public land. 12x12 wall tent with wood stove. That is the beauty of living in a Western state, millions upon millions of acres of public land. The concept of a hunting lease is still pretty foreign to us. The Idaho hunt was done in the Clearwater National Forest. Last weekend was the peak of their month long white tail season and I only ran into 5 other hunters the whole time. People are still spread out enough that the state of ID still doesn't see a need for a hunter orange requirement, thus not required by law.
