Hi
The FEL and backhoe on my BX24 just died suddenly. They were working just fine, then about a minute later, the joystick was completely dead - no noise, nothing at all. Same for the backhoe - the joysticks are all completely dead. The pump must be working because the power steering is working just fine.

I know very little about hydraulics, but instantly going from full function to zippo seems like an electrical failure - a blown fuse, a wire come loose, an interlock of some sort... I checked the fuses I could find and they were all OK.

What's the problem? What should I check next?

I apologize if this question has been asked and answered before, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks,
Brian

Check to make sure the 3PH lever (rockshaft) is not stuck in the full up position.
Check the hoses/couplers that feed the backhoe, unhook them, then clean and reconnect them.

Perfect, that did the trick. I had a backhoe line that was disconnected - duh. What's more, both fittings were nice and clean, and has drops of fresh hydraulic fluid on them...gee, I wonder if it just came loose? :) I had the backhoe off for a while, then put it back on a few months ago. Everything has been fine since then but the fitting must have just popped loose.

Thanks for the reply and nudge. I feel pretty stupid but I'd rather feel stupid and fix an easy problem than feel like a genius and need a new tractor.

No need to feel stupid Brian, it happens...it's human nature to panic and assume the worst (my glass is always half empty) but sharing the problems with others always helps.

Glad it was simple and cheap to fix!

How many hours on those QDs? The internal springs might be wearing out. I had that happen to my QDs to my backhoe. A burst of excessive pressure then pops them just enough to look connected. This is why KennyD said disconnect and reconnect them. I just moved the lines over from #1 to #2 remote.
hugs, Brandi
