Getting old. Sold the ranch. Sold the tractors. Moved back to the city.
Planted ground cover (Austrian winter peas) on two acres of my 6-acre hayfield last week. Broadcasted the seed and then made a pass with the cultipacker.

Yesterday morning these guys showed up for breakfast. They scooted into my neighbors horse pasture when I approached without getting zapped by the electric fence wire

Been here 6 years and this is the first visit from these birds.

You will find those turkeys are eating machines!what do you plan to plant in the spring?I plant soy-bean and corn ,mostly for the deer,of course all of the wildlife benefit.

I'll mow and disc the ground cover into the hayfield in April or May and plant oats for hay in October (the growing season here in the North Sacramento Valley is October-May for non-irrigated hay crops). June thru Sept are dry and extremely hot (triple digit temps) up here.
