My Harbor Freight Trailer for TransMule

I have been looking for a good size trailer to pull behind the mule. I need it to haul tools, fertilize, and produce out of the field. I take people down to the field in the mule and constantly having to move stuff out of the bed in order to convert the mule for 4 people. I needed one that was not to wide since I need to make a 180+ degree turn on the way down to the field.

I look at several sizes and many used small trailers. A Harbor Freight recently opened close to me so I decided to check them out. This is the first item I have purchase from them.

It is 4' x 8' with 1700# of capacity and cost, after discount coupon, $275.00. The bed also tilts. It took about 2-3 hours to put together, pack the hubs with grease and another couple of hours to attache the decking and side rails which was not included in the cost. It would take less time if you pay attention for the directions.

I purchased deck boards from Lowe's for the bed and rails. I will cut the side rails off once I decide if it is high enough.

I need to get a 2" adapter this week for the mule so I can raise the trailer hitch to be close to level.

I think it will fit my needs well and a good price. It also came with a light kit but I chose not to put them on.

$275 is a fantastic price! Curious if anything like that is in Canada, ie Princess Auto?
Does it have torsion/rubber suspension or leaf spring?
Can it be licensed for the highway?

It has leaf springs, comes with a title and can be tagged for the highway.

I have a similar HF trailer, with about 1000# capacity that folds and stands on casters in the garage. This enabled me to get rid of a pickup and still have the capacity to pick up large items. I love the fact that it folds easily and only takes up a floor space of about 5'x2' when standing. Keeping it out of the weather, it still looks like new and doesn't look like a lawn ornament.

The best deal is to wait for a sale then use the 20% coupon.

Have you protected the wood? Some linseed oil might be in order.

I considered buying that one but it was a little too big for me. I went with one of those 4 x 5 ft. steel mesh trailers that Lowes sells in front of their stores. It is very well built and heavy duty for around $400.

I have a 6" drop hitch I flipped and installed yesterday. I had to go to TSC and get a 2" adapter for the receiver on the mule.
