My Ford 650 - no spark!

I have replaced the points, coil, condensor, the wires and plugs seem OK. I've adjusted and cleaned the points to 0.25". I have voltage to the primary, I've checked the rotor and cap. I took out all the sparkplugs to see if I was getting a spark. And I got a nice hot spark --- one time only! No matter how much I cranked it, it only sparked at the first rotation. I tried looking at the spark on each of the cylinders. This has me totally confused. Obiwan can you help me?

Dp you have it all the time, even right after you start cranking and get your single spark?

have you checked the ballast resistor ? ( just jumper around it to test ) ... might be intermittent.

Also check all your grounds.

don't undo the condensor and try to start. you will arc burn the points.

650 came out as 6v, no ballast resistor.

If the unit has been changed to 12v, op needs to tell us if he added a resistor or went to a 12v coil.

points gap is .025 not .25

test lamp inline with coil tells you just about everything you need.

lamp should blink as you roll enine over.

if no lamp at all, check to see if points close and check wireing from outgoing primary of coil to dizzy feedthru insulator, and copper strip to points.

if lamp stays on, check to see if points have closed up or hinge is shorted.. or copper strip is shorted to dizzy case, or then at that point, check to see if condensor is shorted by removing it observing lamp, also check feedthru insulator .. many times the insulation cracks and shorts the outgoing coil primary to dizzy case prior to points.
