My Ferris ZTR

Here's my Ferris 3000is. Does a great job on my lawn

I've been doing a little research on ZTR's and Ferris is one of my choices. Which engine did you get, how much are you mowing, what made you decide on the Ferris? The independent suspension is what I like. I haven't had a chance to try one out yet.

Hi Ron,

I also researched many ZTR's before I purchased this. The big thing is that Ferris was the first to offer suspensions. In addition to the suspension their construction is bullet proof. The ZTR's I looked at (Toro, Scag, Husq, and Zmark) were not built like this. My Ferris is two season's old and I have the 61" 25hp Kawasaki engine. I cut ~1acre and it has worked flawlessly since I purchased it. My 3000is was the first generation suspension. So it didn't have the front suspension. The following year it came as standard equipment. All in all I would highly recommend Ferris products. I also purchased it because I had visions of getting into the lawn care business. Well that didn't happen.

I'm thinking of selling it due to it being much more than I need for an acre. I was thinking of getting a ferris walk behind. If you're interested I could sell you mine for a very good price. I think there's only 40 hours on it.

When you say "suspension", do you mean suspension for the deck or suspension for the comfort of the driver?

I ask because I use my B7500 with a MMM for mowing about six acres, most of which is old fields and are very bumpy and very hard on my back. Is always a toss up between going very slow and taking a long time to finish the job or go normal speed and "grin and bear it".

I was just wondering if the ZTR is more comfortable from the driver's standpoint.

The suspension I'm referring to is for user comfort. Basically, it's like a cars suspension. It will absorb the bumps as you "fly" over the lawn. This allows for faster operation and it's essential for people in the lawn cutting business

dfeck,I originally bought and old MF 135 to bush hog property and it came with a 6' RFM,now that house is built and yard is established tractor is used for mostly cutting grass and I'm toying with the idea (since I bought a new CUT with FEL which can handle all brush jobs plus whatever else)that I really have no need for two tractors... My weekly mowing time would probably be cut from 3 1/2hrs. to maybe 2hrs. or less can anyone give a little input on this assumption? I would be interested in buying used because the sale of my old tractor will definately not net enough for something new,But I would be a little concerned as most used units will probably only be available from the commercial market (high usage hrs.and abuse in some cases)... The 60" is most likely the best fit for my property,I currently use a 72" RFM the ZTR should more than make up the 12" difference,Right or what?
