Thanks for the info. I had never heard of a water cooled turbo before this. I did notice looking at the radiator in one that it seem huge and commented how big the cooling system was, almost diesel like. I just figured it was from the added heat of the turbos, not necessarily cooling them.

Funny. He actually test drove them all. He drove a GMC with a 6.2L, a Dodge with a 5.7L, a Titan with the 5.6L, and a Tundra with the 5.7L. He said the only truck that held a candle to the F-150 was the Tundra in power dept. As far as the fit and finish he said the F-150 was head and shoulders above and beyond the rest.

I cautioned him about the new motor technology. He was not worried. To be honest he is like me and keeps most trucks 3 years or so. Only ones either of us keep longer were our Ford Diesels.

Chris

I haven't driven the Eco-Boost Ford.....However, the Tundra outpowering the 6.2 GMC? I've driven everything that you mentioned, except for the new Ford. No comparison to the 6.2. I pretty much could afford to buy whatever I wanted this time and the GMC out ran everything I drove including the Tundra, thus my purchase.

If I didn't have Stabili-Trac and a locker, I'd be on my 2nd set of back tires by now at 8K miles. This thing moves.

I know you hate GM, but let's keep this on the level. :D

Anyway, congratulate your dad on the new truck and I'm in his corner that it's everything that he expects it to be. In fact, if this set-up shows any life expectancy I might look at one of those in a couple of years when my GMC is hitting 150K.

I should qualify what my dad said. He said it had "balls off the line". The only thing that held a candle to it was the tundra with the 4.30 gears.

There is no denying the 6.2 has power. I am going to pick up a boat with one in it this evening. Lots of power in a small block package. It nearly beats the 8.1L in boat applications and saves about 300#.

I do not dislike GM motors. They have made great motors for years. Its well documented how I feel about the company and the trucks as a whole.

You have mentioned before, towing your personal boat long distances frequently. Cant you store the boat at the lake? Are you in competitions?(ski, fishing?)

Some of you tows are like me driving back/forth to San Diego(from east of Sacramento). That is a long ways.

Just curious :D

We pull them boats all the time with 1/2 tons. I have used every make and model except then newer Tundra's. I am going on a 800 mile trip tomorrow in my Nissan Titan pulling 9,500# or maybe a little more running south though the smokey mountains toward Gatlinburg.

I keep one boat in dry storage at my home lake but we like to travel around. I pull my personal boats 3,000 miles a year or more going to different lakes. We do not fish or ski, just enjoy the water. We go for events like Splash and Flash:D at Lake Cumberland, Fire on the water at Put-N-Bay, Poker Run at Cumberland, ect.

I have not fished ever from one of my boats. My kid does from time to time. I ski from friends boats from time to time but mainly just enjoying the water.

Hemi Challenger? I need pics of that!

One other thing I would like to state. While my father has had Fords for the last few vehicles he is by no means a Ford Man. He also has a Corvette in the garage and a Hemi Challenger.

From best I can remember I set down and in my dads 63 years he has had:

7 Fords/Mercury's

8 Dodge/Chrysler's

13 GM's

He has never had a foreign car. Not that he does not like them, they just don't fit his needs. When I was growing up all I can remember was GM muscle cars. In my HS years it was a few Dodges then when it came to pulling and working around the farm he went to Fords.

I will snap a pic next week. I want one also. Its by far my favorite muscle car now days. That new 5.0L Mustang looks like a winner also. Like the Camaros power plant but the rest of the car is just ugly to me.

GM had a golden opportunity on the Camero and I think the blew it in the design deparment, same story with the GTO, only that was 10x worse...Too bubbly for me. Lunz should have stuck his head in the design studio on those two vehicles. Read an article on the head designer on the Camero, he's certainly not of the muscle car genre. He's seems to be a coffee can (exhaust) guy.

Mustangs:...Liked them when the came out and the retro look was perfect. Only problem is that the streets are flooded with them, almost impossible to tell a V6 from a Boss. Kinda all have the same appeal to me as a Honda Civic now.

Dodge did a great job on the Challenger. Somewhat limited production, a nice look and a great motor. They still turn my head whenever I see one.

Sounds like fun! My wife and I are headed out in the morning to sail on San Francisco Bay.

We do not fish or ski, just enjoy the water. We go for events like Splash and Flash:D at Lake Cumberland, Fire on the water at Put-N-Bay, Poker Run at Cumberland, ect

You are right. The nice thing about the Mustang is the price point. You can get into a 300HP V6 that is no slouch for about $25,000. Thats a lot of car for the money. They are also a little cheaper then the competition but that new 5.0 is sure impressive and has a great sound. They are a dime a dozen though but I am also seeing tons of the V6 Camaro's around.
