My Chop Saw stand

Here's a picture of the chop saw stand I've been building for a while.
Like many of my projects they get a certain amount of time but then get interrupted for more pressing jobs. I know that never happens to anyone else. At any rate they get built to a useable stage but usually get pressed into service before they are completed.
Such is the case for the chop saw stand. I have a number of things to complete on it. The tray for the right side to catch small objects, the pipe roller attachment which will mount on the left roller extension, the holder in front for abrasive cut off blades, the holder on the right side leg for marking pens and chaulk sticks and finally but most importantly PAINT.



I'll post some more photos of it as I move forward. In the meantime I'm working on a manlift as my wife has to paint our 15 foot high front gate and I don't want the lack of a manlift to be an impediment to her progress. That will never do.

Oh and by the way NO I don't usually have gas cans around when I'm cutting material or welding. They were there as they were on the way out the door to get refilled. Thought I better point that out before others did.

Very nice, I'm sure you'll get lots of miles out of that one.

I wouldn't get much done without my saw, but I don't have a stand anywhere near that spiffy.

I built a simular cart, minus the rollers(mine are on their own stands). Something you might consider is building a back out of sheetmetal to prevent sparks from going everywhere. I used plastic freezer door to close the saw in so the sparks wont escape.

I wish i would have spent more time on Chop Saw stand. This was just something quick to get me off the ground. It is 1 1/2" angle iron frame attached to an adjustable pipe jack stand. I welded a small piece of angle on the sides with holes drilled into for attaching 2x6 with a stop screwed on it so that i don't have to measure every cut.

I have the exact same welding stands. I think they're great! I use mine all the time.
I've been meaning to get a hold of the guy that builds them and see if he'll sell me some individual top pieces so I can make interchangable heads for them.

I thought when I built my stand that if I'm going to spend time building it, I'll use is for many years so might as well make it worthwhile and then I won't be constantly kicking myself in the butt because I didn't do it right in the first place.

That's nice. Looks like something I could even build. Have you got any dimentions of it? Are the rails movable?

So, I got a screaming deal on blue paint from Tractor Supply. I was in there when they were blowing out blue engine paint for 99 cents a can. I bought all 8 cans.
This stand has been needing some completion touches for quite a while but I just never got around to it.
Here is what it looks like now.

I missed tglass' email, but yes the rail does slide out and stores on the cart vertically. I do have dimensions for the stand if you are still around and interested.

The final picture is for 4shorts and is my non Miller blue welder. I wished it was a Miller but it does the jobs I need it to do.
