MX6000 Add on Remotes - Float Options?

You will never regret having remotes on a tractor, especially on ones like the MX that is so much more versatile.

Just a follow-up:

The (3) new MX6000 rear remotes are now installed. For the record...we received 22 inches of snow while the MX was in the shop...my 60 year old Massey Ferguson 35 worked his heart out clearing it while the MX was sitting around in a warm 72* tractor spa! Arrrgh!!!

The first photo is from the top side, operator's right, where you can see a plate added on for Remote #3.

Second photo is the underside showing the valve slices, with a screwdriver pointing at #2 which is the valve slice with Float. It has a longer valve extension than the other two valves, although it looks like a similar valve with a longer extension might have fit in the left most position (#1 valve) also.

Third photo is from the rear showing the quick connects and mount.

Fourth photo shows the art work - the six lines from the valves to the rear remotes.

Now...IF Santa could only deliver a Fit Rite Top-N-Tilt under the Christmas tree...it'd be the best Christmas ever!!! 526727584.jpg964592324.jpg1219113854.jpg524431081.jpg

I had been meaning to come back here and comment. We had am MX6000 cab tractor in for a #2 remote install. I didn't do the work, but looked at the tractor before it went home. I wouldn't guarantee a valve with float will fit in the #1 spot but it surely will fit in #3. That would leave any challenges at the lever/gate/linkage area. Surely that could be worked around.

Brian,

It has worked great all summer for my ditch bank flail. No issues whatsoever and the head follows the ground nicely.

I do understand what you are saying but I personally do not ever have a need to go into float with a cylinder fully extended. Some people may and yes that would present a issue. Depending on where I tied back to tank, I would have the opportunity for air to be introduced into the system.

Sounds like your cylinders extend to lower the mower. What you have done basically allows it to float DOWN to follow contour. But not up. Wherever the cylinder/mower is stopped before you activate your "float" is the hard upper limit of the mower.

I believe that the slot you have marked as #1 is for the optional draft control.

The 3rd lever should be in line so that there are 3 levers side by side similar to what I have pictured.

It looks like either the PTO button position has been changed or I have this picture labeled wrong. :confused3:

Yep, slot 1 would be the optional draft control.

Looks like a nice install....but it looks like kubota made things more complicated eliminating the 3rd slot and adding a bracket for #1 out back.

Dont know if the kubota valve sections are different thicknesses for float and standard....but most aftermarket are the same. It looks from pictures that the only limiting factor for kubota to say only one float and has to be in #2 is simply the length of the slot....which could easily be remedied with a dremel or die grinder. But I have to scratch my head and wonder what kubota's logic was in limiting remotes in such a way.

Agree with both comments. A Dremel deftly applied to lengthen the slot in the first position to allow longer Float lever travel seems like it should remove the apparent constraint.

From just viewing, I don't see any variance in the thickness of each of the valve slices, only in the length of the bottom portion attached below the Float valve body in Photo 2.

At this point I have a sunk investment in the current configuration and will live with it, since need for Float on a second valve for Tilt is not an absolute requirement.

But in the future, if something were to cause failure of the 1st valve, I would actively investigate a Float valve as a replacement.

Appreciate and respect each of the comments contributed to this thread.

Thank you. Perhaps it may help someone in the future.
