How cool/cold should my cab be in my MX5400 with the air-conditioning on cold/full?

I was gonna attach pics, but believe me it was hot and I was sweating in my cab. 91 degrees outside with full sun. Sweating in my shirt. Cab, 94 to 97 degrees. When you hold your hand to the air duct, it does not feel cold. I understand that when the sun comes thru the glass, it can be like an oven in there, but I actually feel cooler when I step out of the cab, than I do inside. I figure I paid the extra $8K to get the cab with air-conditioning, I at least should not have a sweat soaked shirt.

I just want to know if this is normal, or if it should be considerably cooler. Do I need to send it in for warranty work. I bought the tractor December 2020, and it has just over 140 hours.

The pics are of a day out bush hogging on flat terrain.

I hope this gives you enough info. Should my cab be cooler? ? ?

It should work as well or better than the a/c in most cars. Call dealer, arrange to get tractor into the shop. Bought new in 2020? Should still be under warranty.

It should be cold... I have to turn mine down if a cloud passes at 95 outside

Yeah, that ain't right. Air is blowing from the duct? Can you see the condenser on your cab and get a temp gun on it to see if it's working?

My M4 takes a good 20 minutes or so to cool all the way down but after that I can't keep it on max even with me and the dog in the cab on a hot GA day.

Most automotive A/C's should read around 50⁰ F with a thermometer probe stuck in the dash vent. I think your system is malfunctioning.

Dirt, dust an chaff in the condenser and/or evaporator can be a culprit,
as well as AC issues.

Awesome! ! ! I thought I was going crazy. I'll check for the dust and chaff in the condenser/evaporator and do a general cleaning under there.

At least I know I should be feeling cold air.

Thanks folks,

john

My Kioti's A/C has held up (discounting the fan issue) for 675 hrs and going on 5 years now. Unlikely that yours has any issue other than what Lou mentioned.

Does your A/C button light up when depressed? I'm thinking that, if it's anything like my Kioti's, that it should. If so, I'd make sure that it actually is lighting up: yeah, seems like a no-brainer, but sometimes one just loses track of certain things in the heat of the battle...

For some added excitement add some mice to the top of your cab and let them stench things up. Nothing like a hot day in a cab with no A/C* AND with mouse stench! * I had a bad connector on the wires to my HVAC fan motor (problem was obvious with no air being pushed)- of all days to find out it had to be a sweltering one!

Is radiator/condenser free of chaff & dust? It's possible heater coolant control valve is allowing hot coolant to flow through it. Next step would be to check low & high AC refrigerant pressures.

Could the inside A/C cabin filters be plugged up?
