MX5000 randomly stalls

Excellent description that helped me immensely. This works very well and I can live without a 1 second delay to avoid this OPC failure in the future. Saved me money and frustration.
Thanks.

Closing out this thread, my bandaid worked just fine while waiting for the new OPC timer to arrive. For anyone who needs to do this in the future, just cut the four wires to the timer between the wiring harness and the relay itself, and throw away the bad relay. Tie the solid red and solid yellow wires together and cap off the other two with a wire nut or some electrical tape.

The tractor has run fine for a couple of weeks now, ever since I bypassed the OPC timer. The lack of a time delay before the engine cuts out hasn't even been a problem. Nevertheless, I installed the new timer this evening, and it seems to be running perfectly.

Josh,

This helped me fix my L3830 that was driving me nuts with the exact same symptoms. I dont see a "Key Stop Relay" in this L3830 though. Dosn't matter - the OPC was the problem. You saved me money and frustration. Excellent description. The red to yellow wire fix works perfectly with all the Safety Switches still functional. Don't need the timer which would certainly fail again at a most inopportune time. Thanks for such a helpful post. Just wish I had found it earlier!

Excellent advice! My MX5000 had the exact same symptoms. Replaced the OPC timer and I'm back in business.

I just want to say that this may apply to a lot of Kubota tractors, I have a L4330 HST that keeps on stalling and clicking, sometimes it happened 5 times in 2 minutes, sometimes I could run for an hour and be ok. It got progressively worse as the timer failed. I believe it was overheating as it happened more when it was warmer. I could run the thing for a long time on a cold day. I even went to the local kubota dealer and talked to a mechanic, they sent me home with a new un-needed seat switch.

I followed your advice in this post and it no longer stalls. I didn't even do any testing. I am not even sure I am going to replace the OPC timer. It seems they are notoriously faulty. Thank you for posting this solution.

To others, who are having this problem, on the L series the OPC time is mounted behind the instrument panel, it is the far right relay, the shroud that covers the panel has 1 screw and 4 bolts. It took me less than an hour to do what was described in this post and be back up and running. You have to work the shroud to get it off and on.

Thank you for posting this, saved me a lot of time and headaches.
Steve
