I agree, one does nit have to stare at the ground to be mindful of terrain. Could be a pothole.. Etc
Not slamming you, but I don't think you need to look at your feet constantly while walking. I'm sure you would notice a huge puddle of oil under the back of a truck or a snow pile that would make the route impassable... all without looking at your feet.
I could care less if people take them out or leave them in. If I slam my shin into one, I say "dumbass" to myself and keep on going about my day. If someone wants to be courteous and take theirs out for my benefit, that is a kind gesture and I appreciate it, but I certainly don't expect it.
