Yeeee Haaaaa, she's a running again. I'd say at about 90-95% but that suits me fine. It idles fine, and really does run pretty smooth. Something sounds a tiny bit rough, but no backfires or missing. Now for the longevity test, again. I mowed with it for about 90 min (about 1.5-2 acres) tonight, cutting the waist high grass and weed bushes in second gear. Tomorrow, if it doesn't rain early, I will do the rest.
Unfortunately, if this latest repair does not hold, I have no other ideas. I spoke with the Briggs rep on the phone, and I found out the $900 engine does not come with a muffler, and might not wire up the same. Seems I'd be into this thing for way more than I thought, so if it goes again, I guess it's new mower time.
There was zero smoke, and when I inspected the cylinder, before finishing the repair, the cyl wall looked just fine.
For now, I will let 'er run and keep prayin for the best.
