My Danco garden tractor loader came with dirty hoses. If I replace all of the hoses and fittings, it will cost around $300. Some of the fittings are caked with mud. How can I clean the hoses or do I need to replace everything?

Thanks for your help and comments in the past and now.

Soapy water and a scotchbrite pad?
If they are greasy use Simple Green or Superclean or the like and have at it.

If you are talking about dirt on the outside, just hose them off. If tractors are not getting muddy, you are not using them enough.

Just clean them good. Or,

Your replacement hoses and fittings should not cost that much if you shop around. Try here.

Surplus Center

These are 1/4 in hose, but you get the idea.

You can also get the replaceable fittings and make your own hose.

You can buy a lot of soap, water and elbow grease for $300.

Thanks everyone. The mud is just inside the fittings. I am okay with cleaning the hoses that are still in good shape. I was concerned about damage to the system of some dirt got in the controller. I will clean and inspect all lines before I put the loader back together.

I priced the hoses at Surplus Center.. and the pricing look okay.

How/ why is mud (as in dirt & water?) inside the hoses?

That is a bad thing.

But not what anyone would expect.

Are just the quick connectors dirty, fell in the dirt? They can be cleaned up.

If somehow you got a bnch of dirt inside the hoses all over the insides of the hoses, yes you do have a problem.

I'm not really sure where to go with this, as it seems like more is going on than we know about, so it's hard to really say what you should do?

If it is just dirt inside the openings of the open face quick disconnects, just clean them out and you will be fine. If you literally have dirt in the hoses (which is hard to imagine how), then that is a different matter. Perhaps pictures if it is not clear what we are saying?

If the fittings just fell in the dirt then just use wd40, airkoil, or something like that to spray on the fitting and then blow real hard on them! do it a couple of times and then you should be ok to reconnect!

Thanks again everyone. When I purchased the loader the hoses had been disconnected and the loader was sitting in the dirt. It looks like dirt on the fitting only. To be honest, I have not taken a good look at the hoses because I have been focused on learning to weld so I could get the loader mounted on the tractor. The outer cover on some of the hoses are cracked and pealed and some hoses look like they need to be cleaned.

I really do not think the dirt is inside the hoses. The previous owner was a hack. Some fitting look like pipe fittings. Later this week I will take them apart and give them and good cleaning and then replace any parts that are too bad.

If you pressure wash those hoses they will definitely show cracks and loose rubber, and that is not good.

I would measure out those hoses and search Surplus hyd for a match or close enough.
