MTD Unknown Model# Serial# Year

Hi Guys,

I need a belt for my tractor I just picked up. Serial and Model #'s are painted over and cannot make them out. i have tried many things to remove the paint with no availl. the numbers are being removed also. Maybe if I give info somone can guess what it is I have..

Is there somwhere that tells the year?

Its an MTD, REd in color, older model, 7 speed auto. 12.5 hp 42" cut. brigss and straton. has a decal on the side Gold series

going to make a guess from experience that the deck belt is a 754-0371 the drive belts are 754-0280 and 754-0281

The engine cover has changed but the rest looks like mine. It's a model 660 thru 679 owner's manual. 754-0371a for the deck belt and transmission belt front 754-0280 and rear 754-0370 I guess the front or rear depends on which model you have.
