MTD Huskee transaxle

My Huskee mower (model 608) is jerking in forward gear. Reverse is fine.

I've split the transaxle and haven't found anything obviously wrong with the gears.

Has anyone experienced this? What did you do?

I would say from working on those for several years that either the shift fork is bent or the shift collar gear and the forward gear catches are worn and allowing the cogs to jump.
