Bill Rodgers can tell you what it is. He told me many moons ago and I can't remember. It is metric but has a different pitch and thread count. Same threads as a lug bolt.

I'd rather not bother him if I'm not buying the bolts from him. Since I have a sample I'll try the local fastener store sometime this week and see if they have the things. Threads in the empty holes appear to be OK.

Also "backed-off" on the idle limit screw on the governor, since the engine idles too fast when hot (1250 or so). It needs some throttle now to idle when cold but I need to try it out in the field to see if the hot idle is much slower.

Looking at some sludge-remover products to see if i can clean out some of the sludge @ the next oil change.

M12, 1.25 pitch

The hardware store had M12's in (2) different threads, but they did not have that.

I was out driving a little while ago, and going right past a industrial supply place. They had the bolts.

One thing I learned with the Beaver is to keep a supply of the standard bolts on hand.

When I go to the junk yard I like to fill my pockets with bolts that people leave all over the floor pans of disassembled cars....especially if there is a minimum charge at the place. This insures that I have lots of bolts in my bolt bin...but never quite the right one:laughing:

Took the Mitsubishi tractor "brush hogging" again on saturday:

2nd time 'in the field' for the tractor.

From the photos posted before, some may be under the impression that I am mowing mostly grass:

...but i am also mowing this:

...and this:

While taking photos the left front wheel rolled over something big. Hit the clutch and the brakes, looked down and saw this:

A large rock hidden in the brush. Here is a better view:

Lots of rocks to avoid. Haven't avoided all of them. My formerly smooth-sided cutter:

I keep raising the height but the rocks get bigger.

Adjusted the idle down to about 900 as it is suposed to be. Getting oil pressure of between 25 and 30 @ 900. Still getting 40 to 43 @ 1250 which is as slow as it
would idle last time. Temp never exceed 170 F.

Am done with the tractor work for this year. Still need to spend about a day with the walk-behind field & brush mower trimming-up areas, especially "The Hill."

Not going to take the tractor on the hill.

I have rocks here too. I tilled a dog lot at our church manse a couple weeks ago. I picked up somewhere around 350 pounds of rock yesterday. I also found the base of an old clothes line pole set in concrete.

Rocks, rocks, rocks! Let me tell you about rocks. My mowers have all kinds of dents from rocks I somehow missed. Even places where I hand picked the rocks away the year prior. If I didn't know better, I'd swear they were growing. I have a dusting of topsoil, rocks, and then hardpan. :D

Went mowing again on Sunday. As per the plan, I did not take the tractor, but instead brought along the walk-behind brush mower in order to cut those areas unsafe or unwise to attempt with the tractor:
001.JPG

As previously noted in the thread, I had left the rotary cutter on site and had been hauling just the tractor in order to limit the load on the truck. Since I am done using the rotary cutter for this year I intended to bring it home. On the previous visit to the site I had left the cutter hidden in the brush, so I now had to winch it out of the brush and onto the trailer. If this had been a 6 or 7 footer, or even a 5 footer, that would have been a real job, but it was no big deal to load a 370 lb, 42" cutter:

Finished up cutting "the hill." In additon to the walk-behind, also had to chainsaw a few small trees and ran the hand-held brush cutter a bit:

Then it was time to load-up for home. Also taking the angle blade home for the winter. The rock access road could use a little work, but for "political" reasons as long as it is passable I do not want to improve it at this time:

I won't need the tractor again until spring, so i might spend some time over the winter fixxing a few small issues with it.
