MT1601d Clutch Problem

I bought a Mt1601d off eBay. It runs great other than the clutch has to be pulled up every time I push it down. It is very stiff in both directions. Is there any way to loosen it up without tearing the whole thing apart? The spring on the pedal is not the problem. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

You will have to split. The input shaft is rusty and the clutch or release bearing is sticking on it.
