Tried out my 5-1/2" Mr. funnel today and didn't go so good. Transferred the diesel from a 5 gal. container to a 2-1/2 gal, so I could hold it up easier - that part went ok. Problem arose when filling the tank on my L3130. Funnel diameter was to large to fit into tank, so tried to hold funnel with one hand and pour with the other. The tractor and I both smell of diesel after that attempt. Does anyone have ideas on a reducer that would fit snugly into the tank and also hold Mr. Funnel firmly? Perhaps a pvc fitting or something along that line might work. Am I the only Mr. Funnel Dork?

I always wind up heading for the orange hand cleaner after using Mr. Funnel.
The only issue that I find to be a bit of a pain is that the last quarter cup of diesel is almost impossible to get through and I usually wind up dumping it back out of the funnel into newspapers, etc.
I guess maybe the super duper $50 version solves these problems, but who wants to spend that much on a funnel??

I'm not sure I understand the problem. I use a Mr. Funnel with an L3710 and it works fine. Is part of the problem the length of the end of the funnel that enters the tank? If you need an extension, you might try clamping a piece of hose onto the end.

Darren - The diameter of the bottom section of the funnel is so small that it flops over in the tank fill hole when pouring into it. The middle section is too large to fit into the tank, so it doesn't hold it erect. I went to the hardware store this AM and bought a Fernco Fitting and 5" legth of 2" galvanized pipe. Cobbled it together - it aint pretty, but does the job. Put in 5 gal of diesel today without a problem. Will take a picture of it tomorrow and post it, for what it's worth.

ps: forgot to mention that it worked so good that I overfilled the tank and again ended up with plenty of diesel smell and a quart or two on the outside of the engine - but I'm having fun. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm with Darren on this one. I use the Mr Funnel on the L3710 and the ZD21 with no issues, (other than having to dump a few ounces of fuel into the waste oil jug. I fill up when I'm just under a half tank, that way I don't overflow and it takes the entire 5 gallon jug. I overfilled once, what a mess.

Took a few pictures today - first one shows how the funnel tilts and created problems while filling (3 pics altogether)

Nice fix for an ugly problem. The filler on my tractor is in the center of the hood and it's perfectly horizontal.
