mowing with d1650

i just bought a 4ft king kutter compact series brush hog for my little tractor. this is my first tractor like this one,what gear do i put the pto in it has 1-4 and also what rpm do i run the engine at while mowing. the engine is a 20hp k4a diesel. thanks for the help

1st pto gear. run engine close to wide open.
