Mowing Mowing MPH

I don't think there is a correct speed to mow. I see the guys with Grasshoppers and the like mowing at a pace that must be pushing 10+ mph. They usually look like they are getting the crap beat out of them, too.

If the ground is moist I mow a little faster than when it is dry. When it is dry, the ground is so hard the mower takes a beating. That is the limiting factor for me.

I have a WheelHorse 4-14 and I mow in 2nd gear with it most of the time, except when I'm going between boats, then I go in 1st. I'm pretty sure 21nd gear is somewhere around 2.5MPH and it does and OK job.
