Still haven't gotten anything: gotta take action next week. Probably an acre plus. Want to spend $2,500 max. DR has their 10.5hp 24" brush cutter on sale for $2,000 delivered, not sure what the other brands cost.

Don't want to spend more than $2,500.

Have you consider dozer for day day an half rock stump pushing than back dragging?

We are having a contractor come in with an excavator to create a perimeter drainage system. One of the reasons we can't use the tractor is there's a spring up the hill.

While some of those rocks are boulders, some are several tons. I didn't get the backhoe because I determined it couldn't move many of these rocks. Granite is about 165 lbs/cu ft.

Either way still have to cut it....For sale locally:

Toro/Wheel Horse 268 - $1295
Deere 345 - $2300.

So looking at the terrain further, the ground is a lot rougher than any lawn and it's more like a field. And it's overgrown. There are still some soft spots that a garden tractor might struggle with.

Found a used 26" DR Power walk-behind brush cutter with 14hp Kawasaki engine used, locally, at a good price. This model has an articulating housing, wide tires and electric start.

Tried it out and it handled everything well. Well pleasd.

Not a tractor per se but I needed something to cut the back yard/field. It's quite rough and overgrown, with some soft spots due to a spring. Thought about a garden tractor but there are some narrow strips and they are also relatively heavy.

Bought a used DR Power walk-behind brush trimmer. Has a 14hp electric start Kawasaki, big tires and articulating housing. Works great.

Finished the area yesterday afternoon. Just under an acre.

With all the holes and rocks and scrub this was definately the right choice. Takes much less effort than a wallk-behind snow thrower.
