Every time I read about one of these I think about how my father paid for his first bush hog... mowing the slopes of the local ski area with an 8N Ford.

I lost two cousins to tractor accidents. They were brothers. One flipped over a 9n the other was killed by a rotary cutter. 4 years apart.

My heart goes out to his family.

I'm sorry to hear of this tragedy, my condolences and prayers for the family.

There was a post in the John Deere section recently about some repairs a fellow made to his tractor and towards the end of the thread he posted some pictures of his daughter riding with him on his open station tractor while bush hogging and I thought then he really has no idea or he wouldn't have her up there, most people see no danger in it and seem to get offended if you say anything. You just can't stop fast enough if they fall off, and most people truly don't see the danger.

I've mentioned this here before... back in the 1970's my parents came back from a motorcycle ride and were aghast at what they had seen... somebody out bushhogging while their kids rode on the mower deck.

Very tragic, I wory about my dad alot, he is 75 and operates the old large farm machinery often by himself.

I am thinking of adding seat belt to my Yanmar (that is what I bush cut with) I am 72 and things happen quickly. No rops but ground is real flat. Is that good or not?

Not good. If a tractor doesn't have ROPS, the last thing you want to do is strap yourself to it.
