Hawgee,
Thanks for your suggestion... I'll be sure to share it with my wife.

How often does your neighbor mow?

Regards,

Tim

Keith,

Thanks for the response.

I was thinking along the line that it would be better to have a wider mower so the mower can get closer than the tractor along the edges as you mentioned.

Additionally, I saw somewhere, maybe at the Carver Equipment site, that if the tractor can handle larger equipment, you will put less hours on the tractor. (Which leads to the question; Can go faster with a smaller implement?)

With either the finish or rotary mowers, they would be off the rear 3PH.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is an "MMM"?

Regards,

Tim

It's the sound you make after a long satisfying day on your tractor./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Or some people say it stands for Mid-Mount Mower. Really, it's open to interpretation.

Tim I mow a Pasture Field in Ohio with a L245 (25 HP) and a
Land Pride 72" Side Discharge Mower
I have to Mow at 2 Week Intervals
Finish Mower does not work well in Tall Grass

I have a 60" Landpride finish (3 pt) mower that I use for the same purpose...keep a 2 acre field cut so the weeds look like lawn...from a distance. I had no problem with my Kubota B7100 with "grass" up to six inches high or so. I now use the same mower with a B2910 and can go through considerable taller stuff without bogging down if I have to. I thought the 60" mower looked huge when I was buying it. It's amazing how puny a 5 foot swath looks in a 2 acre field, though. I'd buy the widest mower that you can power. A 72" is only six inches per side if you want to think about it that way...not a whole lot.

Thank you all for the information.

I think now I need to summerize, make a decision, and work with it.
I like the idea of the 72" finish mower, but if I go that way I'll need to increase the frequency of the mowing and be careful manuvering around edges and corners.

Thanks again,

Tim

How often does your neighbor mow?

All summer long. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Mayby once during a very mild winter.
With cross fence'n and animals, he is more interested with 3" to 4". More often around the house. I just met this guy 2 weeks ago. He started with a 1720 in 85' and just traded up to the TC29 last year. He runs the R4's and calls his 7308 FEL his elevator. He also uses the TC29 with a rear spreader for the lime.

I recently had a TC33D with R4 tires out for a demo. I measured the maximum width at the rear tires as 61 3/8". The contact patch on the rear was 12 ½" but I did not measure the maximum width the tires contacted the ground. It was not that far in, probably right at 60".
